By virtue of Ordinance 63 Series of 2016 entitled “Ordinance providing for full Business Permit and Business Tax exemption for Sari-Sari Stores and Carinderia in Marikina City, owners of these establishments will not be required to pay for the said tax and fees in 2017.

However, if the Sari-Sari store or Carinderia is selling Cigarettes and/or liquors or has a startup capital of more than Php 10,000, then they are not covered by this ordinance. Meaning, they still have to pay for their business permit and tax.

  1. Then I wonder why I still got a visit from a BPLO inspector last month. My carinderia barely has 10K capitalization and has not even made 1/10 of 180k gross, I sell no cigarettes or liquor, and just opened August 2017 but is closed for business 95% of the week because it’s just strictly a part time business augmentation to our regular income, a past time really for my wife who likes to cook for people once in a while.

I asked the inspector why he was asking me to pay fees to the City for a carinderia such as mine which is micro-livelihood exemption Class D business in accordance with City Ordinance 63 this 2017, he said (quote) “di ko alam yan, kahit na” was his strange reply.

Anyway I will be posting this ordinance beside my Barangay and DTI permits in case he comes back.
