The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and their partners have come up with a checklist for your to determine if your concrete structure can withstand an earthquake.

The questionnaire, titled “How Safe is My House? Self-check for Earthquake Safety of CHB Houses in the Philippines”, has 12 questions, each with three possible answers. Each answer is equivalent to a point. The total number of points earned determines the strength or vulnerability of the structure.

If you get a low score, DOST recommends that you consult a civil engineer to immediately check your structure. This is also useful if you are preparing to buy a new home or is planning to build a new one.

For Marikenyos, we know that the Marikina Valley Fault is ready to move any moment. Our preparations will help reduce the impact of this event to us.
