Is Marikina City still implementing a Citywide Curfew? The answer is Yes! With the passage of City Ordinance 040 Series of 2015.
Minors 18 years old and below are banned on the streets of Marikina from 11:00 PM to 4:00 AM.
Marikina City council enacted City ordinance 163 which was approved last August 2001 and was amended by Ordinance 022 series of 2004. The current ordinance is Ordinance 040 series of 2015.
This ordinance aims to impose a citywide curfew to all minors particularly 17 years old and below. Also this will serve as deterrent to all teenagers to commit delinquent activities such as gang-war, pot sessions and drinking spree. Also included in the ordinance are those students still wearing their school uniform frequently caught hanging in videoke bars, video arcades, computer shops, and billiard halls.
Minors found violating these ordinances shall be penalized to pay three hundred pesos (300.00) or a community service of 3 hours or upon the discretion of your respective Barangay Captains. Also 2 hours of moral counseling from a pastor or a parish priest is included.
Good thing there are exceptions:
This is not applicable to all minors loitering within the time and place mentioned provided with justifiable reasons such as school and work related activities. Provided that the students must present their school I.D. while Out-of- School youths and working students must present their jobs I.D’s to the apprehending officer. Likewise, minors accompanied by their parents are exempted.
