I was wondering why I have not read any news about the schedule and the theme for this year’s Christmas Bazaar which is held annually.
So I asked around and I found out that the Marikina City Government will still be pushing through with the activity but with less stalls this year and that it would only have food and rides. See update below.
Maybe this is due to a pending
feud case between the Local Government of Marikina and last year’s organizers of the Bazaar. The Marikina City Government represented by Mayor Del de Guzman filed a case against the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Marikina Chapter (last year’s Organizers) represented by Eduardo Francisco for failure to pay the remaining amount due for the operation of the Bazaar. But Mr. Francisco said they do not owe anything to the Marikina Government and that they (PCCI – Marikina) even made an overpayment. But this is just a hunch. Maybe there’s a more concrete answer on why the Tiangge event is “quiet” and would have “less” stalls this year.
Let’s wait for the formal announcement.Maybe they have something else to offer.
The Marikina Christmas Festival (Bazaar/Tiangge) usually starts on the 2nd week of November (this week).
Back then the Christmas Bazaar (Tiangge) was held at Marikina River Park (ilog) and then it was transferred at the back of Marikina City Hall after Typhoon Ondoy.
UPDATE: November 15, 2013
The food stalls will be placed at the back of Marikina City Hall. The rides will be at the right side (facing the food stalls) of this area.
UPDATE: December 2, 2013: According to several sources, wala daw po yung stalls this year. What you see now are per Barangay and private night markets, Tiangge / Bazaars. Wala daw po nanalo sa bidding (alam na)
Confirmed. Inalis na po yung mga big tents sa likod ng Marikina City Hall…
