Marikina City, the shoe capital of the Philippines, is home to the wide array of shoes of former first lady, Imelda Marcos.
It is housed at the Footwear Museum or more popularly known as Marikina Shoe Museum located along J.P. Rizal Street at Barangay San Roque.
Guess what… the shoes survived ondoy!
As BBC News reports:
The famous shoe collection of former Philippine first lady Imelda Marcos has survived the recent floods in Manila.
Staff at the Marikina Shoe Museum moved hundreds of pairs just before water swamped the building’s ground floor.

Its not surprising that the shoes survived the flood. Its normal for the caretakers of the museum to move them to a higher ground because the museum is near the river. However, they did not expect the flood to be that high.
And so some shoes were drenched in flood waters. Good thing the museum has a second floor.
gaano kataas tubig sa loob koya ?
Nung dumaan ako dyan kuy around 3 AM (kasi nilakad ko from santolan station to bayan), above knee deep yung water. So i think nung kataasan ng tubig (which started at 2 PM) eh chest deep yung floodwaters dyan. And malakas ang agos because katabi siya ng marikina river.
