The Our Lady of The Abandoned Parish or OLAP.

Built by the Augustinians in 1700′s, the church was destroyed by 2 earthquakes in 1816 and 1830 and by fire in 1891. Today the church stands as one of the oldest churches in Marikiina were countless spectacular weddings and religious events take place.

The canonization of the image of Our Lady of the Abandoned in October 2005, under papacy of Pope Benedict XVI, is the 23rd Marian Image to be crowned in the Philippines. source

Sa pagkatatag ng Lungsod ng Maynila noong Hunyo 24, 1571 ay nagsimulang lumaganap ang Katolisismo sa pamamahala ni Miguel Lopez de Legaspi. Kaugnay nito, ang mga paring Agustino ay nagtungo sa mga nasasakupan ng Ilog Pasig at Marikina upang pamahalaan ang pagmimisyon sa mga bayan ng Marikina, Pasig, San Mateo, Pasay, Pateros, Malabon at Muntinlupa.

Ang pagtuklas ng lugar ng mga Agustino upang ipalaganap ang Katolisismo ay nagpakilala sa kanila ng mga bagong lugar katulad ng Manantial o Chorillo na ngayon ay kilala bilang isang bahagi ng Barangka, sa pagitan ng Lungsod ng Quezon at Marikina. Dito itinayo ang isang kapilya para sa mga nasasakupan na lugar upang maging sentrong pangrelihiyon.

Taong 1630, pinagtibay ni Fray Pedro de Arce ang paglipat ng pamamahala ng simbahan ng Marikina sa mga paring Heswita mula sa mga Agustino. Sa pagtataguyod ng mga Heswita ay nagtayo sila ng bahay pahingahan sa Barangka na nakilala bilang Ostanza. Bukod pa rito, itinayo ang isang kapilyang malapit sa Ilog Marikina na ngayon ay Jesus dela Peña(Jesus of the Rock). Ang unang misa rito ay ginanap noong Abril 16, 1630.

Dumating ang panahon na muling pinamahalaan ng mga paring Agustino ang bayan ng Marikina. Kasunod nito ay iniutos din ni Gobernador Gabriel Cruz Elasegue na ilipat ang kapilya ng Jesus dela Peña sa mas mataas na lugar upang hindi na bahain noong 1687. Ito ay ipinatupad ni Don Juan Pimentel, ang Alcalde ng Tondo kaya naitayo ang simbahan sa pagitan ng Sta. Elena at San Roque (sa kasalukuyang kinatatayuan nito).

Taong 1689, diumano’y ibinalik sa mga Heswita ang bayan ng Marikina hanggang sa naging ganap na parokya noong 1690. Ang simbahan ay ikinonsagra ng Archdiocese of Manila bilang Parokya ng Ina ng mga Walang Mag-Ampon noong Oktubre 23, 1791; samantala, tinaguriang dambana ang simbahan ng Patrona noong Agosto 5, 2007 sa pamamagitan ni Most Rev. Gabriel V. Reyes, D.D., Obispo ng Antipolo.

The church is perfect for weddings because it has a long isle. It also has ample parking space and there are a lot of venues beside the church where you to hold your reception.
